The default revision state
Each Content Type's default revision settings are stored on their respective basic settings page.
For instance, you can find the Article Content Type's revision settings at Manage > Structure > Content Types > Article > Publishing options.
Note:
As Drupal evolves, more and more content entity types such as nodes, content blocks, and taxonomy have become revisionable. Each of those content entity types will have a similar basic settings page where you can manage the default revision state.
